The City of Westfir is now accepting applications for the Relief City Operator position, which is primarily water and wastewater management. Seeking an individual with flexible work hours and/or the desire to obtain training for Class 1 certification in collection and treatment for wastewater, and Class 1 certification as Operator for Water in both treatment and distribution.

Job Description

Hours:

Weekends, holidays, and as required by the City Operator.  Approximately 8–12 hours per week.  Must be on call for City emergencies.

Pay:

$16–$17 per hour, based on experience

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Driver License and clean driving record
• Must live within 30 miles of Westfir/Oakridge
• Ability to lift weight of up to 50 pounds
• Strength and physical stamina for tasks such as lifting, digging and bending
• 6 months of public works experience preferred

Relief Operator Responsibilities:

• Test water and wastewater daily, on work days
• Monitor the North Fork River at the water intake for both level and turbidity
• Record details of above tasks daily and save for City Operator to be used for records sent to the State
• Complete tasks assigned by City Operator
• Perform the duties of the City Operator during scheduled and unscheduled absences, including:
  • Maintenance of City buildings, vehicles, and other equipment and properties
  • Leak investigations
  • Water meter readings
  • Water shutoffs
