Relief City Operator
The City of Westfir is now accepting applications for the Relief City Operator position, which is primarily water and wastewater management. Seeking an individual with flexible work hours and/or the desire to obtain training for Class 1 certification in collection and treatment for wastewater, and Class 1 certification as Operator for Water in both treatment and distribution.
Job Description
Hours:
Weekends, holidays, and as required by the City Operator. Approximately 8–12 hours per week. Must be on call for City emergencies.
Pay:
$16–$17 per hour, based on experience
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver License and clean driving record
- Must live within 30 miles of Westfir/Oakridge
- Ability to lift weight of up to 50 pounds
- Strength and physical stamina for tasks such as lifting, digging and bending
- 6 months of public works experience preferred
Relief Operator Responsibilities:
- Test water and wastewater daily, on work days
- Monitor the North Fork River at the water intake for both level and turbidity
- Record details of above tasks daily and save for City Operator to be used for records sent to the State
- Complete tasks assigned by City Operator
- Perform the duties of the City Operator during scheduled and unscheduled absences, including:
- Maintenance of City buildings, vehicles, and other equipment and properties
- Leak investigations
- Water meter readings
- Water shutoffs
